“Santa is Coming to Town” Word Scrabble

($$$) This is a FREE game

Kids will have a blast finding words out of that happy Christmas phrase “Santa Claus is Coming to Town!” How many words can you make, how many 6 letter words? It’s actually harder than it looks to in only 5 minutes!

Directions

Print out one word scrabble game sheet for each player and pass them out with pencils. Set a timer for about 5-10 minutes and have the players try to make as many words as they can out of the phrase (You can use your own phrase, too, by just writing it out and putting it in view of the players, such as “Rogers’ Family Christmas Party!”).

For adults or older kids have them only use the number of letters shown (like not allowing the word “kissing” if there is only 1 “s”), but to make it easier for the younger kids, or those just learning to spell, they can be allowed to use any number of the letters shown when making a word (like allowing the word “kissing” even though there is only 1 “s”),.

Scoring can be done on a “per-word” basis, (the number of words created is the player’s total points), or “by the letter” where you give points dependent on the number of letters a word is ( 2 points for 2 letter words, 3 points for 3 letter words, 4 points for 4 letter words, and so on). The player with the most points at the end wins.

Everyone will have a jolly time trying to come up with the best Christmas words, and kids, teems and kids will all be able to play since the game scales to the spelling level of the players.
